OVERVIEW FOR 2020 PERTH-BUSSELTON RIDE
Hi Folks due to popular demand here is an overview for the 2020 Thirty-Fifth Anniversary Tour. This is a supported ride, a truck will be provided to carry your camping gear and luggage (20 kilosLimit) to each overnight stop. There will be a twelve seater bus provided to act as a “sag wagon” and it will tow the CTA bike trailer to provide a rescue service in the event that you or your bike breaks down. Colin Pearce has volunteered to act as the event mechanic he will be carrying a limited supply of tools to keep your wheels in motion. Every morning apart from Thursday, there will be a substantial morning tea provided approximately half way by volunteers. All aspects of this event will be conducted within the guide lines of our club rules.
Day 1 (Approx 82 K) After being farewelled we leave the beautiful surrounds of Burswood and cycle south to Pinjarra (you may like to travel some of the distance by train) Lunch at the famous Pinjarra Bakery. Destination = Sir Ross McLarty Oval and Clubrooms in Pinjarra, home of the Pinjarra Tigers. The bar will be open for happy hour and dinner which will be catered for with live entertainment. Visit the Edenvale heritage precinct where you will enjoy the Roger May Machinery Museum and Cart Shed, Arts and Craft Centre, Heritage Tea Rooms and the Visitor Centre.
Day 2 (Approx 72K) After a hearty breakfast we leave the historic township of Pinjarra in the Murray Shire, meander through the lovely quiet country roads of Coolup, Hamel and Wagerup. A slight detour to visit the tragic remains of the historic town of Yarloop devastated by a bushfire in 2016. Then on to the beautiful township of Harvey, Destination = Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre. Lunch at the French Bakery or enjoy a Devonshire Tea at the historic Stirling Cottage on the banks of the Harvey River. If you feel that you need to be challenged a steep 40 k return ride to the beautiful Logan Dam will stretch your riding legs. Enjoy a shorter ride to the Harvey Dam and Amphitheatre, all very picturesque and equally worth a visit. Happy Hour and Dinner at the Recreation Centre and entertainment with a covers band playing 60s 70s and 80s music.
Day3 (Approx 53K) After a hearty breakfast we ride through the centre of Harvey then travel on to enjoy the farm areas of Wokalup, Benger and Brunswick Junction, there if you like you can visit the White Rock Historic Dairy Farm and Museum, this is a working dairy farm with a unique comprehensive record of family and farming history hidden amongst huge white rocks. Then through the township of Australind and onto Bunbury, Destination = P.C. Payne Park home of the Bunbury Bulldogs. Lunch today will be at the shopping centre and maybe a leisurely ride around the Leschenault Inlet or the City Centre will be your thing. The bar will be open for happy hour and dinner and a movie TBA.
Day 4 (Approx55K) After breakfast say goodbye to Bunbury and enjoy the ride Dalyellup before crossing the highway and cycling through the quiet country roads of Gelorup Rise and surrounding areas. Then back over the highway and through the Tuart Forests of Capel and Wonnerup, through the beautiful Port Geographe Marina area and on to our destination at the Busselton Tourist Village. Lunch at our favourite Bakery Kent Street of course! Or whatever you prefer. Free Afternoon and in the evening a fantastic celebration and Presentation Dinner at the Busselton Bowling Club.
Day 5 After breakfast all hands on deck to pack up and stow luggage and bikes in trailers and truck option return ride to Bunbury, details TBA.
